The US Embassy Submits a Report to Minister Devika Vidot on the Status of Electronic Commerce in Seychelles: Way Forward

On Friday 27th November, 2020 a short ceremony was organized whereby the representative of the US Embassy based in Seychelles, Mrs. Marie-Anette Ernesta handed over to Minister Devika Vidot, the Minister for Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry a copy of the official report on the Status of Electronic Commerce in Seychelles: Way Forward.
The report was prepared by US Consultancy firm, International Economics Ltd, following a series of events organized in late October and early November 2020 by the US Embassy to Seychelles and Mauritius in collaboration with Enterprise Seychelles Agency and the Department of Trade, under the POWER (Providing Opportunities for Women’s Economic Rise) initiative.
Ambassador David Reimer, the Ambassador for the US Embassy for Seychelles and Mauritius which is based in Mauritius delivered his remarks through a video and this was followed by remarks from Minister Vidot who stressed on the importance of putting the relevant facilities in place to develop eCommerce and the important role that women entrepreneurs play in the economic development of Seychelles.
The CEO of ESA stated that ESA is one of the institutions that looks forward towards working on the implementation of the recommendations of the report, along with other private and public sector entities, to ensure that eCommerce is given the necessary attention.
