ESA Hosts Financial Management e-Workshop for MSMEs

As part of the activities for Global Money Week 2022, Enterprise Seychelles Agency hosted a Financial Management e-Workshop for MSMEs on Wednesday 23rd March. The purpose of the e-Workshop was to assist in promoting efforts aimed at improving the financial literacy of young people, as the importance for our young entrepreneurs and MSMEs to have access to high-quality financial education to build financial resilience is pivotal.

The objectives of the e-workshop were:

  • To promote Global Money Week and to create awareness and opportunities of capacity building programs for young entrepreneurs and aspirers;
  • To create awareness on the importance of preparing a budget and managing its forecast;
  • To create awareness of one of the most popular business accounting software, i.e. QuickBooks, and the benefits of the tool;
  • The empower participants to have capacity in managing the financial aspects of their enterprise; and
  • To educate businesses to make smart financial decisions that can improve their financial well-being.

The workshop was delivered in two modules of one-hour each. The first module – Budget Formulation and Management – was facilitated by Ms. Peter Roselie, a well-known business Mentor and Consultant, whilst the second module – Quick Books for MSMEs – was delivered by Sir Nilan Fonseka, from the Seychelles Business Studies Academy.

Assisting entrepreneurs to plan their business for financial viability is one of the major functions of Enterprise Seychelles Agency, which is stipulated in its Act. It is also in line with the vision of the Ministry of Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry, the parent Ministry of the Agency, which is generation of wealth and creation of employment responsibly, in a conducive business environment.
