Revised Concept Note Presented to Embassy of the People’s Republic of China

In December 2019 Enterprise Seychelles Agency received a donation of USD203,524.00 from the People’s Republic of China for the redevelopment of the Bazar Labrin area located at Beau Vallon. However, in January 2020 a new decision was taken for the Société Seychelloise D’Investissement (SSI), the owner of the property, to take over the whole project and conduct the renovation.

To that effect, the donation received is today still unused and Enterprise Seychelles Agency has requested to divert the funding to other projects with similar aim, which is to provide facilities for micro, small and medium enterprises to operate their business.

On Tuesday 29th September 2020, the Vice-President, Mr. Vincent Meriton, the Minister responsible for the portfolio of industry and entrepreneurship development, presented a revised Concept Note to the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Mrs. Wei Guo, on behalf of ESA. The revised Concept Note proposes placement of kiosks and other relevant facilities at two different locations, i.e. at Beach Park, Anse Royale, Mahe, and at Cote D’Or on Praslin to facilitate MSMEs, including the construction of one public toilet at Anse Royale, Beach Park.

In attendance at the presentation was Ms. Angelique Antat, the Principal Secretary for the Department of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development and the Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Seychelles Agency, Ms. Angelic Appoo. ESA awaits the final decision from the Embassy to confirm the implementation of the two projects.
