Mr. Eric D’Souza, a representative of Enterprise Seychelles Agency delivered a presentation today on Farm Business, Planning and Marketing at the ‘La Semence’ training session organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture, National Biosecurity Agency (NBA) and the Seychelles Agricultural Agency (SAA).
The presentation explained various points such as:
- The importance of planning a farming business
- The need to develop strategies for your business
- What is marketing and how to market your business
- Preparation of cashflow, book-keeping and costing of products
- Challenges in the agricultural sector
- Using innovation to overcome some of the challenges.
The training participants are the successful youth entrepreneurs who have qualified under the La Semence – Youth Farming Enterprise scheme which was launched in July 2020. Enterprise Seychelles Agency identified the lack of skills and knowledge on business planning and financial management by the young farmers, hence agreed to work together to provide more insight in these areas. The training was held at the National Biosecurity Agency Training Room.
